ACE 2008 Training September - November
Accounting for Community Enterprise (ACE) was set up to enable good financial management in voluntary and community organisations and works mainly in the London Boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, City, Havering, Newham and Redbridge. ACE is a part of HAVCO, the Havering Association of Voluntary and Community Organisations.
The services they offer include:
Help and advice via telephone and email
Preparation and independent examinsation of accounts
'ACE Value' newsletter
Training courses
Training for groups at their premises
Budget/cashflow statement preparation
Financial health check
Writing a financial procedures document with a group
Advising on and setting up financial systems
Other consultancy work for organisations

Autumn Conferences
The Russell-Cooke Employment Law Conference for charities and voluntary organisations is taking place on 6 October at 76 Portland Place, London W1. £300 for one learner or £450 for two learners from the same organisation.

LVSC E-learning courses now available
LVSC has launched a new and exciting range of sector-friendly online courses. These courses match the popular range of short courses delivered by the Learning Team. The courses may also be taken independently or to support accredited learning.
London VCS staff register for only £35 with access to over 70 different courses.
A pilot project is assessing the courses and 25 free registrations are available to VCS staff who agree to participate in the evaluation.

Birkbeck College accreditation of LVSC short courses
Birkbeck College has approved a package providing recognition of specific LVSC short courses. By accrediting the prior learning (APL) achieved on these courses, participants of the LVSC courses may gain exemption for one module (30 credits equivalence) of the Higher Education Certificate in Voluntary Sector Studies and Management (level 4, HE level 1).
