Radar’s Leadership and Empowerment Programmes for People Living with Disabilities
The Royal Association for Disability Rights (RADAR) is a national network of disability organisations and disabled people. They represent members by taking opinions and concerns to policy-makers and legislators in Westminster and Whitehall, and launching their own campaigns to promote equality for all disabled people.
They are currently running a number of programmes:
1) Leadership and Empowerment Programme (funded by DCLG)
The major part of this programme is their leadership stream. It is a series of four Leadership Development Days which are scheduled to run between September and December 2010, offering a blend of skills training and personal development work throughout one-to-one coaching session.
2) London BAME Leadership Programme (funded by City Bridge Trust)
This programme is similar to the above, but focuses on young people (between 18-25 years old) from BAME communities in London.
3) RADAR/CSV Youth Project - Superpowers for YOUNG DISABLED LEADERS
RADAR is seeking young disabled applicants (13-19 years old) from 3 UK regions to present at events that will be attended by representatives from around 50 disability organisations from each region, to encourage these organisations to recognise young disabled talent. www.youngdisabledleaders.com
