Volunteer Management Best Practice Workshops
The VCG Best Practice Workshops are a course of six core workshops designed to give you all the information you need to effectively involve and manage your volunteers. The core workshops will give practical ways to safeguard your organisation and benefit from a well recruited and managed volunteer team. These courses are for organisations which currently, or are planning to, involve volunteers.
The six core workshops are:
o Introduction to recruiting and managing volunteers
o Writing and developing volunteer role descriptions
o Inclusive volunteering
o Supervising and supporting volunteers
o Screening volunteers
o Dealing with difficult volunteers and difficult behavior
Attendance at all six workshops is highly recommended and will entitle your organisation to a VCG Certificate of Volunteer Management Best Practice.

Each workshop is £20 per representative from charities and not-for-profit groups and £30 per representative from statutory organisations. Unfunded organisations may be entitled to free training and should contact Shaun Delaney at the Centre.

Jobcentre Plus Agrees To Encourage Jobseekers To Volunteer

Agreement with Volunteering England will lead to an action plan to promote volunteering among claimants. Staff at job centres will be asked to encourage unemployed people to volunteer under a new agreement between Jobcentre Plus and Volunteering England.

Capacitybuilders Volunteer Management Programme – Strand C
Capacitybuilders is offering volunteer managers across England the opportunity to apply for a skills development bursary up to £1950. Each bursary will fully fund an approved skills development package, delivered regionally by experienced training providers and aligned to the national occupational standards in volunteer management.
There are three levels of access tailored to suit your experience and role, each with the option of nationally recognised accreditation and including distance and online learning opportunities. There are a limited number of bursaries available, so early application is advised.

Political parties tell NAVCA how they will support voluntary and community action
NAVCA asked the three main political parties to outline how they would support voluntary and community action if they win the election. Their responses have been published in NAVCA's policy bulletin Circulation.
