Conservative Draft Manifesto - 'Mending Our Broken Society' Chapter
The Conservatives have published their draft manifesto chapter on 'Mending Our Broken Society'. It contained a section setting out how they would use the state to stimulate social action, build social capital, and bind people together through sport.
Proposals that could have an impact on the third sector include:
Directing existing government funding to help voluntary sector organisations and social enterprises expand and tackle some of the most difficult social challenges;
Voluntary organisations being allowed to earn a competitive return for providing public services; and
The Big Lottery Fund re-focused purely on supporting social action through the voluntary and community sector.
