Plan for Success
The £6k Resilience Grant offered to Changeup Consortia by CapacityBuilders spurred a wave of activity at a time when many of us were already busy preparing reports and monitoring forms for the financial year end. However, despite this, across the East London sub region a number of innovative activities and mini projects were delivered that included; recession focused workshops and seminars, surveys to establish the effects of the recession on frontline organisations and capacity building volunteer centre staff to enable them to deal with the influx of professional volunteers who have been made redundant as a result of the recession.
Sub Regional Activities
The East London CVS Network used its £6k to develop a toolkit entitled ‘Tools for Success’ and with 7 out of our 10 boroughs contributing £1,000 from their Resilience Grants, we were able to produce 8,000 CD-Roms and give them free of charge to the majority of voluntary and community organisations based in the 7 contributing boroughs.
ELN Toolkit
An interactive CD Rom, Tools for Success allows users to drill down to the essence of what really matters the most in an economic downturn. Posing challenging questions like, ‘Do you manage your money or does it manage you?’ and ‘If your newsletter, website and staff look shabby, will funders think your organisation is too?’ the CD Rom offers over 150 pages of information, exercises and resources.
Gratitude
Pulling the toolkit together in such a short space of time was largely enabled by the specialist VCO’s such as the Charities Evaluation Service, the Tool Factory, the Media Trust and many others, who gave ELN permission to tweak and re-produce their existing resources. So we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who provided not only resources, but their time, money and commitment that enabled the production of the CD-Rom.
