Olympic update
The Voluntary and community sector 2012 project is providing the strategic overview for the sector to engage with the Games. It recently held an event to enable over 100 voluntary and community organisations to consider how they can respond to the Mayors plans for the 2012 Games. These suggestions will contribute to the Mayors plans for the Games which will be launched early next year.
The project will be launching early next year outlining the important role the VCS can bring to the 2012 plans. The project currently has an interim steering group including membership organisations from across the sector. Elections for membership of this steering group will also take place next year. Currently the project is working to develop a community engagement strategy for the Games. This will work to enable community engagement through existing mechanisms and groups within the sector.
